Privacy, in plain English.

Saturday Bitcoin is an early-stage directory of places and online shops that accept Bitcoin, run by its founders. You can browse without an account. This page explains what we collect when you do more than browse, and how to have it removed. Questions: admin@saturdaybitcoin.com.

If you only browse

We count visits with an anonymous identifier that your browser keeps for one day. It is not linked to your name, email or IP address, and daily counts are kept for 30 days. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, it is not counted at all. The counts are public on our open stats page.

When you use Near me, your browser asks for permission first. Your location is sent to our server only to find nearby places and is not stored. If you choose a city, we remember it on your device so Saturday Bitcoin can open there next time.

The map is drawn with tiles from OpenStreetMap, so your browser requests those tiles from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which see your IP address like any website you visit.

If you create an account

We store your email address and a securely hashed password, plus anything you choose to add: your name, city, interests and saved places. Sign-in uses a cookie to keep you signed in.

If you send us something

Feedback stores your answers, the page you were on, whether you were browsing local places or online shops, your last search, whether you were on a phone or computer, a tester code if your invite link had one, and a contact handle only if you give one.

Suggested updates and new places are stored with your account so we can review them. They are not sent to BTC Map automatically.

Business claims store the business email and ownership and payment evidence you provide. This is private and only used to verify the business. If you book a verification call, the booking is handled by Calendly under its own privacy policy.

Website visits: when you follow a link to a business’s website through Saturday Bitcoin, we record the business, the time and your account identifier if you are signed in. These are visits, not purchases.

Payments

If a business pays for a featured placement, Stripe collects the payment details. We store the amount, the merchant, the account and the payment status, never full card numbers.

Who processes data for us

Cloudflare hosts the site and its database. Stripe handles payments. Calendly handles verification call bookings. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or for your account and everything linked to it to be deleted. Email admin@saturdaybitcoin.com from the address on your account and we will reply within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.

We will update this page as Saturday Bitcoin grows and change the date at the top when we do.
