Details and sources
Who holds it
Ecash model. The app is non-custodial software: tokens and keys stay on your phone. But the bitcoin behind your ecash is held by the mint that issued it (the Minibits mint or another mint you pick), so you trust that mint to redeem it. Minibits says to use it only with small amounts.
Setting up
Install from Google Play, the App Store, Zapstore or FreedomStore. You get a free minibits.cash Lightning address with no sign-up or KYC. Back up the 12 words. Fund it with a Lightning payment, or on-chain through the mint.
All fees as published
Minibits charges no fee for the wallet, Lightning address or its mint. Lightning routing and on-chain network fees are passed through at cost, and unused fee reserve is returned. Other mints may set their own fees.

Nostr Wallet Connect
Supported. Built-in Nostr Wallet Connect lets other apps, such as Nostr clients, start payments (zaps) from your Minibits wallet.
Countries

Lightning free from WoS; on-chain 1.95%

Setting up
Download the iPhone or Android app. A self-custody wallet starts with a 12-word recovery phrase to write down. The site says you can be sending sats within a minute. No identity check is mentioned for the wallet itself; buying through the MoonPay partner is handled by MoonPay.
All fees as published
No WoS fee to receive Lightning payments; sending Lightning may include network routing fees. 1.95% on Bitcoin (on-chain) top-ups. On-chain sends: 1.95% plus a fixed processing fee (custodial) or plus the miner fee (self-custody). Spark may add its own fees in self-custody.

Countries
The Disclosure Document says self-custody is available globally and custodial service only in select regions. Access is prohibited in restricted (for example sanctioned) jurisdictions. Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) is an open standard that lets you link your own wallet to an app, with a spending limit you set. The app never holds your bitcoin, and you can disconnect at any time.

Once Saturday Bitcoin supports it, you will be able to pay a place from its page, with your payment confirmed by you and the business, and use offers from places you follow. Your bitcoin always goes straight from your wallet to the business.
